Week 1: Medical marijuana users getting pot soft drink

An entrepreneur plans to market a line of medical marijuana soft drinks. Clay Butler plans to fill dispensers with the medical marijuana he calls "soda pots". The drinks will contain the psychoactive marijuana ingredient THC. Marijuana drinks are already popping up all over the place but Butler believes that by slapping his brand on the drinks will make him a good profit. The drinks will be sold for $10-$15 per 12 oz. bottle.  Butler says that he does not do drugs or need medical marijuana for any aliments.

I had to write about this one because I thought it was really funny. Times are changing and I know that a lot of people in the U.S. use marijuana, whether it be for medical reasons or for personal reasons. I actually have a friend that lives in California, where medical marijuana is legal. They are really coming up with some crazy things for marijuana usages now a days. I've heard of pot brownies, but my friend in California says they have all kinds of crazy things over there. They actually have machines where all you have to do is scan ur medical marijuana card, put in some money, pick which "flavor" you want, and out pops a "doobie" (looks like a rolled up cigarette). Is that not crazy?! She also says that there are shops over there that sell pot candy, pot cookies, pot tea, and other various "pot" items. Now they have come up with this plan to make soda pop with pot in it. I just think its kinda funny! Maybe one day there will be a place like Sonic called a pot drive-in! The things people come up with these days never cease to amaze me! Oh the possibilities! Ha! HA! HA! My friend in California told me it's actually quite easy to get one of those medical marijuana cards in her state. She says she even has one. I told her she's crazy and that she better not be driving on that stuff. I'm not knockin' it but I do think that people need to be careful with it. There is a reason why it's been illegal for so long.

  2. A long time ago the company that makes Marlboro cigarettes was going to make pot cigarettes. But, the government decided not to legalize pot because it is a weed. It can grow almost anywhere. I have to say that I am all for using it medically because I was in a bad car accident at 19 and got pregnant 3 months later and they told me my body was killing my baby girl and that I needed to take two puffs of a joint or pipe of pot. My husband was shocked and was against it because he we are a military family. You can get kicked out if you do not pass a drug test. So, we had to make a decision and I went and lived at my mothers for a month and did smoke the pot and it saved my little girl. But, it is crazy that they would have vending machines, but remember sometimes pot saves lives.

  3. You are right, there are reasons why it's been illegal. I understand that it may be medically necessary to some, but there are those who use it and end up hurting others.

  5. Holly, I agree with your statement "the world is a changing" because it truly is:) I also wanted to thank you for the support and input in regards to my book dilemma, thanks again. Oh and about the name I thought of Ponic instead of Sonic. It gives meaning to pot because of the P instead of the S. Also thought it would be funny if they had Ponic Burgers, and Ponic Fries. Very interesting topic, I enjoyed reading your opinion.

  6. Everything is changing so quickly! Wasn't it just a little while ago that law was even passed in California? Now I wonder how long it will be before more and more states adopt this concept. Oh and "soda pot"?! Thats almost out of control.
