Riots Around the World

We've all seen the news these days. Everyday there is always some horrible event taking place somewhere in the world. Some people don't even watch the news, but I like to be aware of what is going on around me. Some people would rather be blind when tradgedy strikes, especially if they think that the news has nothing to do with them. For those of you that do watch the news, you have seen the reports of riots breaking out all over the world. There has been an abundance of riots breaking out in every country now a days. I think everybody knows about the riots that are going on in Egypt, because that news story has been aired time and time again. What people don't know is that there has been a report of a riot breaking out in a different country every single day. Eygpt is not the only one being noticed for the riots in the streets. Greece, France, Istanbul, Germany, Russia, Italy, and Japan have reported riots lately. Some people already know why the riots are breaking out and why there is mass chaos in the streets. For those of you that don't know, the reason why this mass chaos is breaking out all over is because the recession is not just affecting America, it is affecting everyone in the world. All of the riots you see that are being announced in the news are because of the skyrocketing unemployment rate. People are losing their jobs, their homes, and their way of life everyday because of this recession. Something must be done to take serious action against the deep and serious consequences of the recession. This problem has not only caused loss of jobs but many other problems have been on the rise since the start of this recession. The crime rate has increased significantly here in the U.S. and in every country in the world and the stock market has been dropping at an alarming speed. There has been numerous robberies and theft reports everywhere. People all over the world are also rioting because of food costs. The price of food has increased and people don't have the money to pay to feed their families. Millions of riots have broken out in poor countries and right here in America because of the lack of food. Millions of people are worried about the outcome of thier lives in these harsh times. Even right here in the U.S. there have been reports of riots. There are "cuts" being made in Wisconsin to the Teacher's Union and the results of this are being displayed everywhere. The people that the "cuts" effect are voicing their opinion on the matter by standing together and protesting. The more this problem continues without a solution, the worse the economy is going to get. Think about it. Would you ever see yourself protesting in the street for anything? I bet you would if you and your family's life depended upon it. If it was your last chance to get justice for what had happened to your life then I bet you would be out there with the millions of people who are fighting for their way of life. I'm sure the people who are involved in the many riots that are happening around the world didn't ever think that they would be in that position. People are confused and worried about the recession's outcome and they have a right to be. Sometimes people will do extremely crazy things when their way of life is threatend. I also believe that we are going to have to endure a few tough times in our lives. I think that things will get worse before they get better. We may have to scarifice a few things with these "cuts" that the government is having to make. We voted for the people that lead our country and so we should reach out and trust them, help them in any way possible, because the outcome of giving up is far worse than that of fighting to solve this crisis. There will be sacrifices made in order to solve the recession problem and people will continue to disagree with the choices made to fix this, but if the problem isn't solved then it could end us all.

  1. Holly after reading this post I knew I had to post a comment. The fact that almost every country around the world is experiencing a bit of a recession is no surprise. This recession had been predicted by many experts some time back. I think its really important to keep in mind that the world of today is highly advanced. Information today is obtained almost instantly compared to how it once was. Whether we want updates on our favorite celebrities, or politicians today's technology can do it. Americans are able to see that various parts of the world are having chaos. I bet many people find this comforting. Knowing that they are not alone in this battle. I am sure that these events illicit a great deal of hope to people that desire a change.

  2. I agree it seems like thing are getting out of control in the middle east everyday you hear about a new riot or one that is already going on. I really wish there could just be a world peace for one day thing would be much better.

  3. Wow, I have to admit, I never watch the news. I hardly watch TV at all anymore actually. I always have the idea, as you said, that things don't affect me, but they do and I should pay more attention. I didn't realize there are riots happening everyday! I appreciate you putting the whole thing in perspective. I definitely could never see myself protesting for something, but in these hard times, it's always a possibility I'll have to speak out for my family.

  4. There is so much going on in the world today and I agree that since we are a more technologically advance world now, news does travel fast.

Budget cuts are going to have to happen somewhere, but maybe some of the politicians should look at their own wallets instead of your average every day joe or single working parent.

  6. I agree, there are too many things that we turn our backs to in this generation, especially when it comes to being outside of the U.S.
This recession is a deep rooted problem, and many of us don't even realize how we are adding to it. I actually had a discussion with a friend about this yesterday. We were talking about how the paper doesn't have it's classifieds online anymore. I think this has a lot to do with people rejecting the printed news, instead receiving their updates via the internet, apps, and social networks. Most people these days buy the paper for the classifieds, so if they take it off of the website, more people will be forced to buy the paper instead-which will up their sales and help the company. This is a great article, very well written, and you did a great job of backing up your statements.
